MasterCard and its new feature: Paypass (or Just Tap and Go)

July 28th, 2010

Are you one of MasterCard users around the world ? Are you cheering like me when see they are the major sponsor of the UEFA championships and other major soccer (or football in Europe) tournaments ? Have you recently received a pamphlet in your mail introducing the new feature (and always the new feature is the best they have) of Paypass, where you only need to pass your Master-Card by the machine and it will do all the work ? No need for signature and it will be more than easy to handle a card. But, have you ever wondered about a security reach this new technology might introduce ? Watch this video talking about the new technology and how it can hacked.

Why not watch another Master Card advertisement to persuade us to use the new technology ?

Your decision, use it or not, do it wisely.

American Express Iris Promotion Gift Card

February 14th, 2010

I have received a 50$ promotion gift card to be spent on Iris. If you want to spend on buying eyeglasses or any other items from Iris, it would be a wise choice to get an American Express card now and use this gift card. I only have one of them and not using. The easier way is to let me know (by comment, email, twitter, friendfeed) and we could be able to manage to exchange the card sometime.

For more information visit this page at iris. You can also find more offers there. There says

Offers valid until March 28, 2010.See IRIS stores for details.

Inactive Fee for Scotiabank Credit Cards! Beware

December 8th, 2009

Every now and then banks find a way to get that money out of your pocket. Specially after the credit crunch, creditors always come up with a way to do that.

One way is to charge you a inactive fee for your account. I have seen this fee for the bank accounts but I have never seen it on a credit card. I was browsing for a new credit card that I saw a term on scotiabank’s page that says they are going to charge you 10 dollars if your credit card is not being used for a period of 12 months.

This is from their website:

Inactive fee¹
Applies to No-Fee Scotia Moneyback VISA, No-Fee Value VISA, No-Fee ScotiaGold VISA and SCENE VISA. [Fee does not apply to L’earn VISA or SCENE VISA card for Students]

This inactive fee only applies to the credit cards that do not have an annual fee. So if you are not paying an annual fee and leaving your credit card resting on your desk, get up and give scotiabank a call to cancel it. This inactive fee is for the following cards:

Scotia Momentum VISA, No-Fee Scotia Moneyback VISA, Scotiabank Value VISA, ScotiaGold Passport VISA, No-Fee ScotiaGold VISA, L’earn VISA and SCENE VISA

These are images of the cards.
